The ‘Drivetime Medical’ programme is a regular audio CD programme that is distributed on a complimentary basis to over 22,500 general practitioners throughout Australia via a CD mailer. Our Drivetime Medical host is Dr John D'Arcy.

Dr D'Arcy is one of the most well respected and experienced medical broadcasters in Australia. Dr D'Arcy has hosted the series since its inception and is synonymous with both credible and insightful interviewing technique ensuring a 'balanced presentation' of topics discussed.

Dr John D’Arcy O’Donnell: MB BS Dip Obst RCOG: A family physician beginning his broadcasting career in 1981 as a producer and presenter of health issues for The Seven Network. John was the first medical practitioner appointed to an Australian newsroom and today is a contributing editor of The Seven Network’s, Sunrise and Sunday Night.

John has practiced across the globe, including the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom, Qui Nhon in Vietnam where he and his wife were medical volunteers in the months preceding the fall of Saigon, and later at Goroka in PNG before settling into family practice in Sydney.

John produces both Health Check, a daily radio segment heard every weekday on over 80 metropolitan and regional stations around Australia and Health Matters, on 31 regional stations throughout Australia. Many of the topics discussed on Drivetime Medical are integrated on these radio segments.

John is also a member of the Diabetes Australia (NSW) board, The Institute of Immunology, Allergy Research and The Colo-Rectal Foundation, and an ambassador for Australian Hearing.
